Ontario’s subcompact SUV segment is getting a fully redesigned contender. The 2027 Kia Seltos arrives with a longer wheelbase, three powertrain options, and a starting MSRP of $28,495, building on a first generation that delivered 110,747 units to Canadian buyers since its 2020 introduction.
This second-generation Seltos is bigger inside in ways that matter. Rear passengers gain 25 mm of legroom and 25 mm of headroom over the previous model. Cargo space reaches an estimated 1,817 litres behind the first row and 786 litres behind the second row, with a two-step foldable luggage board available on select models for added flexibility. Ontario shoppers looking at this class of vehicle will find the updated dimensions place the Seltos in a strong position.
The 2027 Seltos offers three distinct powertrain configurations.
The base option is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine paired with Kia’s Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). This powertrain is available across the LX, EX, and EX Premium trims.
For drivers who want more output, the 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder produces 190 hp through an 8-speed automatic transmission with manual control. This engine is standard on the X-Line and X-Line Limited trims, both offered with AWD.
Rounding out the powertrain choices is a new 1.6-litre four-cylinder Hybrid, a first for the Seltos nameplate. It pairs with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission and is offered in front-wheel drive or with available e-AWD. Kia notes this makes the 2027 Seltos the first Kia hybrid SUV to offer e-AWD. Hybrid pricing and fuel economy figures will be confirmed closer to its on-sale date.
The redesigned body shell pays off in cabin space. The 25 mm increase in rear legroom makes a real difference for back-seat passengers, and the matching 25 mm gain in overall headroom gives the interior a more open feel. Cargo capacity of up to 1,817 litres behind the first row puts practical hauling ability within reach of a subcompact SUV, while 786 litres behind the second row handles everyday loads with room to spare.
The X-Line trim receives an exclusive interior treatment: a monotone black cabin with SynTex upholstery and mesh headrests, along with standard four-way lumbar support. The X-Line Limited adds front Relaxation Seats.
The 2027 Seltos features a digital dashboard layout spanning nearly 30 inches of total combined screen width. The setup includes a standard 12.3-inch digital touchscreen, an available 12.3-inch instrument cluster display, and an available 5-inch climate control display.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across all trims. Four USB-C ports span both rows: front-row ports sit between the centre console and climate controls, and rear-seat ports are integrated into the first-row seatbacks for easy access from the back.
